Alba means "dawn" in Italian and Spanish and derives from Latin albus, meaning "white" or "bright." It is also the Scottish Gaelic name for Scotland, though that is a separate linguistic tradition. Notable bearers include Spanish duchess Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, known as the Duchess of Alba, and actress Alba Flores.
