Aletha is a modern feminine name derived from or influenced by Greek alētheia, meaning “truth.” It may also be used as a variant of Alethea, the form popularized in post-classical and English naming. The similar name Althea has a different Greek root associated with healing and should not be automatically merged with Aletha. Notable bearers include Swiss-American developmental psychologist Aletha Solter and American politician Aletha Garrison. The name’s clearest established association is truthfulness.
