Meaning and history
Andra has several origins: it can be a Romanian feminine form related to Andrew, a Scandinavian feminine form of Anders, or a short form of names such as Alexandra. Through the Greek root shared with Andrew, it carries the sense of “manly” or “brave.” Romanian singer Andra Măruță is a well-known bearer.
Andra rose from #953 to #911 for boys between 1974 and 1975. Its highest annual birth count came in 1966, with 99 births.
