Meaning and history
Angélica is derived from the Latin angelicus, meaning “angelic,” and is ultimately related to the Greek ἄγγελος (angelos), meaning “messenger.” The name appears in the Orlando poems of Boiardo and Ariosto (1483 and 1532), where Angélica is the love interest of both Orlando and Rinaldo, and it has been used as a given name since the 18th century.
