Anikó is a Hungarian feminine form and affectionate derivative of Anna. Anna comes from Hebrew Ḥannah, meaning “grace” or “favour,” and gained lasting Jewish and Christian significance through biblical tradition. Anikó is now an independent standard name in Hungary rather than merely a nickname. The acute accent marks the long final vowel.
