Meaning and history
The name Anissa first came to public attention in 1966 through child actress Anissa Jones (1958–1976), for whom it was a transcription of the Arabic name أنيسة (see Anisa) chosen to honor her Lebanese heritage. Since then, some parents have used it simply as an elaboration of Anna with the popular suffix issa.
