Meaning and history
Aodhán is an Irish diminutive of Aodh, meaning "fire," and therefore means "little fire." It is closely related to Áedán and the anglicized Aidan. The name was borne by early Irish saints and rulers. A notable modern bearer is Irish politician Aodhán Ó Ríordáin.
In 2025, 14 babies were recorded with the name Aodhán, ranking #6,143 among boys.
