Argus is the Latin form of Greek Argos, a name associated with the meaning “bright” or “shining.” In Greek mythology it was borne by several figures, most famously Argus Panoptes, the many-eyed watchman of Hera. The name also belongs to Odysseus’s faithful dog in the Odyssey.
