Astraea is the Latinized form of the Greek Ἀστραία (Astraia), derived from Greek ἀστήρ (aster), meaning “star.” In Greek mythology, Astraea was the goddess of justice and innocence, and when wickedness spread through the world she left the earth and became the constellation Virgo.
