Meaning and history
Modern Scandinavian form of Ástríðr. The name was borne by the Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren (1907–2002), author of Pippi Longstocking, and by a Swedish princess (1905–1935) who became queen of Belgium as the wife of Leopold III.
