Meaning and history
From Auberi, the Old French form of Alberich, this name was brought to England by the Normans. It was common in the Middle Ages and was revived in the 19th century. Since the mid-1970s, it has more often been used for girls, influenced by Bread’s 1972 song Aubrey and its resemblance to the established feminine name Audrey.
