Audrea is a modern feminine variant of Audrey. Audrey descends from the Old English name Æðelþryð, composed of elements meaning “noble” and “strength.” Saint Æthelthryth, a seventh-century East Anglian princess and abbess of Ely, preserved the name in medieval England; Audrey developed through later pronunciation. The final -a in Audrea is an elaboration and does not alter the origin. A notable bearer is American journalist and editor Audrea Lim.
