Azeneth is a spelling variant of Asenath, the biblical name of the Egyptian woman whom Pharaoh gives as wife to Joseph in Genesis. She becomes the mother of Manasseh and Ephraim. The name is Egyptian in origin, but its exact meaning is debated; the traditional interpretation “belonging to the goddess Neith” is plausible rather than completely certain.
