Babak

Babak is a Persian masculine name traditionally understood as an affectionate form meaning “little father” or “dear father.” An early form, Pāpak, was borne by the father or predecessor of Ardashir I, founder of the Sasanian Empire. The name is also strongly associated with Babak Khorramdin, the ninth-century Iranian rebel leader. Modern bearers include Iranian-Canadian filmmaker Babak Payami and Iranian-American engineer and entrepreneur Babak Parviz.
