Cadoc

Cadoc is a Welsh masculine name associated with Welsh cad, meaning “battle,” though the precise formation of the early name is not completely certain. Saint Cadoc was a fifth- or sixth-century Welsh abbot credited with founding the monastery at Llancarfan and became one of the best-known saints of medieval Wales. Later traditions describe him as learned and widely travelled. The name’s strongest significance is therefore early Welsh Christianity rather than a simple modern martial interpretation.
