It has also been used in northern Europe as a form related to Katherine, so the same spelling can reflect more than one naming tradition. Carina is additionally the Latin word for a ship's keel and the name of a southern constellation. Notable bearers include Hong Kong actress Carina Lau and English musician Carina Round.
