Meaning and history
Ceallach is derived from Old Irish Cellach and has an uncertain origin; it is traditionally said to mean “bright-headed,” though it may also come from Old Irish cellach meaning “war, strife” or cell meaning “church.” The name was borne by several early Irish kings and by a 12th-century saint who was archbishop of Armagh.
