Charlee is a modern English spelling variant of Charlie, a diminutive of Charles or Charlotte used for more than one gender. Charles derives from a Germanic word meaning “man” or “free man,” while Charlotte is its French feminine diminutive. The final -ee is stylistic and does not alter the origin.
