Meaning and history
Gaelic name of uncertain origin, possibly meaning "born of fire" or combining elements for "respect" and "fire." It was borne by Cináed mac Ailpín (Kenneth MacAlpin, died 858), traditionally regarded as the first king of a unified Scotland.
