Meaning and history
Colt comes from the English word for a young male horse or from the surname of the same origin. It may also have been given in honor of American industrialist Samuel Colt (1814–1862) or the firearms company named after him. The name gained public attention in 1981 through the main character of the television series The Fall Guy.
Colt moved from #277 to #285 for boys between 2024 and 2025. Its highest annual birth count came in 2019, with 1,833 births.
