Irish name traditionally translated as "lover of hounds," combining con, "hound," with a second element meaning "desiring" or "helping." In Irish mythology, Conchobar mac Nessa was the legendary king of Ulster central to the Ulster Cycle of tales, and the name is the source of the modern Anglicized Conor and Connor.
