Darya is the Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian form of Daria, the feminine counterpart of Darius. The name ultimately comes from Old Persian and is commonly interpreted as "possessing goodness" or "holding firm to good." Saint Daria was a third-century Christian martyr, helping the name spread in Eastern Christian cultures. Notable bearers include Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva and Ukrainian swimmer Darya Zevina.
