Meaning and history
Deneb is a modern name taken from the bright star in the constellation Cygnus. The star name comes from Arabic dhanab al-dajājah, meaning “the hen’s tail,” because Deneb marks the tail of the celestial swan or hen. It is one vertex of the Summer Triangle asterism with Vega and Altair. As a human given name it is rare and belongs to the tradition of astronomical names. Reliable prominent real-life bearers are limited.
