Meaning and history
Devon is a variant of Devin and may also have been partly influenced by the county of Devon in England, whose name comes from the Dumnonii, a Celtic tribe. In African-American use, it is usually stressed on the second syllable and may have been chosen in part because it sounds similar to names such as Trevon and Javon.
Devon moved from #902 to #962 for boys between 2023 and 2024. Its highest annual birth count came in 1997, with 3,189 births.
