Meaning and history
Dragana is a South Slavic feminine form of Dragan. It derives from the Slavic element drag, meaning “dear,” “precious,” or “beloved,” and can therefore be interpreted as “dear one.” The name is especially used in Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Macedonian, and Bulgarian communities. Notable bearers include Serbian singer Dragana Mirković and Serbian basketball player Dragana Stanković. Masculine relatives include Dragan and Dragomir, while Dragica is another feminine form.
