Meaning and history
Eden is a name taken from the biblical place name, which may come from Hebrew עֵדֶן (ʿeḏen), meaning “pleasure” or “delight,” or from Sumerian 𒂔 (edin), meaning “plain.” In the Old Testament, the Garden of Eden is described as the place where the first people, Adam and Eve, lived before they were expelled.
