Meaning and history
Eithan is a modern variant of Ethan and the Hebrew Eitan, derived from a Hebrew word meaning solid, enduring or firm. The root appears in the Old Testament in the name of several minor figures, including Ethan the Ezrahite, traditionally associated with Psalm 89. A notable bearer of this spelling is Israeli Olympic swimmer Eithan Urbach.
