Elon means “oak tree” in Hebrew and appears in the Old Testament as the name of one of the ruling judges of the Israelites. A notable modern bearer is entrepreneur Elon Musk (born 1971), who was born in South Africa and holds Canadian and American citizenship; he is not Jewish.
