Meaning and history

Endymion is a name derived from Greek ἐνδύω (endyo), meaning “to dive into” or “to enter.” In Greek mythology, Endymion was an Aeolian mortal loved by the moon goddess Selene, who asked Zeus to grant him eternal life; Zeus did so by placing him in an everlasting sleep in a cave on Mount Latmos.
