Meaning and history
Eudoxia is an ancient Greek feminine name from eu, “good,” and doxa, “reputation,” “honour,” or “judgement,” giving the meaning “good repute” or “good judgement.” It was widely used among Byzantine and Eastern Christian elites. Aelia Eudoxia was empress consort of the emperor Arcadius, while Licinia Eudoxia became empress in both the Eastern and Western Roman courts. Evdoxia is a modern Greek and Slavic-related form.
