Meaning and history
Everard comes from Everardus, the Latinized form of Eberhard. The Normans brought it to England, where it merged with the Old English cognate Eoforheard, but it has been used only rarely since the Middle Ages. Its modern use may reflect the surname Everard, which itself derives from the medieval name.
