Fátima is a name derived from the Arabic فطم (faṭama), meaning “to abstain” or “to wean.” Fatima was the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad and the wife of Ali, the fourth caliph, and is regarded as an exemplary Muslim woman, especially among Shias.
