Felicity comes from the English word felicity, meaning “happiness,” ultimately from Latin felicitas, meaning “good luck.” It was among the virtue names adopted by the Puritans around the 17th century, and it can also serve as an English form of the Latin name Felicitas. The name rose in popularity in the United States after the 1998 debut of the television series Felicity and is more common in the United Kingdom.
