Meaning and history
From Old Irish Fiachrae, the name is possibly derived from fiach “raven” or fích “battle” combined with rí “king.” It was borne by several legendary figures, including one of the four children of Lir who were transformed into swans for 900 years, and it is also the name of Saint Fiacre, a 7th-century Irish abbot who settled in France and became the patron saint of gardeners.
