Meaning and history
Finn has two established origins: in Irish tradition it is the Anglicized form of Fionn, meaning "white" or "fair," and the name of the legendary warrior Fionn mac Cumhaill, while in Scandinavia it can derive from Old Norse Finnr, referring to a Sámi person or someone from Finland. The spelling is also familiar from Mark Twain's character Huckleberry Finn. Modern bearers include actors Finn Wolfhard and Finn Jones.
Finn moved from #198 to #206 for boys between 2024 and 2025. Its highest annual birth count came in 2017, with 2,382 births.
