Meaning and history
The name means “beloved” and comes from Proto-Germanic * Frijjō, from the root * frijōną, “to love.” In Norse mythology, Frigg was Odin’s wife and the mother of Balder. Some scholars think she and the goddess Freya share a common origin, although their names are not linguistically related.
