Meaning and history
Fulk is a medieval English form of a Germanic name represented in French as Foulques. It derives from an element meaning “people” or “tribe,” cognate with German Volk. The name was introduced to England by the Normans and was borne by several counts of Anjou. The best-known historical bearer is Fulk, king of Jerusalem from 1131 to 1143, who had previously been count of Anjou. Modern use is rare, and reliable contemporary bearers are limited.
