Gaia comes from the Greek word for "earth." In Greek mythology, Gaia is the primordial personification of the Earth, born at the beginning of creation and regarded as the mother of Uranus, the Titans and many other divine beings. The name was later adopted as a personal name, especially in Italy, and also appears independently as the feminine form of the Roman name Gaius. Notable bearers include actresses Gaia Weiss and Gaia Scodellaro.
