From earlier Galaad, likely from the Old French form of the biblical place name Gilead, Galahad is the name of Sir Galahad in Arthurian legend, the son of Lancelot and Elaine. He is remembered as the purest of the Knights of the Round Table and the only one to find the Holy Grail, first appearing in the 13th-century French Lancelot-Grail Cycle.
