Meaning and history
Gastón is possibly derived from a Germanic name based on the element gast, meaning “guest” or “stranger.” It is the usual French form of the name of Saint Vedastus, known as Vaast in Flemish, and it was also borne by several counts of Foix-Béarn beginning in the 13th century.
Gaston moved from #933 to #996 for boys between 1935 and 1936. Its highest annual birth count came in 1918, with 83 births.
