Ghadir is an Arabic given name used for more than one gender, from ghadīr, meaning a small stream, pond, or pool left by rain. The word has additional Islamic historical resonance through Ghadir Khumm, the location of a sermon by Muhammad that holds particular importance in Shia tradition. Transliteration variants include Ghadeer. A notable bearer is Druze-Israeli journalist and politician Gadeer Mreeh, whose first name represents a variant spelling of the same Arabic form.
