Meaning and history
Gracia is a Spanish and Catalan feminine name derived from Latin gratia, meaning “grace,” “favour,” or “thanks.” In Christian use it can refer to divine grace and is related to the Spanish devotional name María de Gracia. It is also found as a surname, which is historically separate from some given-name uses. Notable bearers include Spanish film director Gracia Querejeta and Spanish flamenco singer Gracia Montes. Grace is the usual English cognate.
Gracia rose from #869 to #758 for girls between 1880 and 1887. That year also produced its highest recorded birth count, at 10.
