Gwyn is a Welsh name meaning “white” or “blessed.” In Welsh legend, Gwyn is a king of the Otherworld and leader of the Wild Hunt, and he appears in Culhwch and Olwen as one of the many figures who help Culhwch pursue the monstrous boar Trwyth. The tale also describes his rivalry with Gwythyr over the beautiful Creiddylad.
