Japheth is a name derived from the Hebrew יֶפֶת (Yefeṯ), meaning “enlarged.” In the Old Testament, he is one of Noah’s three sons, alongside Shem and Ham, and is regarded as the ancestor of the peoples of Europe and northern Asia.
