Meaning and history
Kae has several unrelated uses. In English it is often a spelling variant of Kay, which may shorten Katherine or derive from the letter name K; Katherine’s original Greek etymology is uncertain despite its traditional association with “pure.” In Japanese, Kae is a feminine given name whose meaning depends entirely on kanji, with many possible combinations. A notable bearer is Japanese voice actor Kae Araki. The romanized spelling alone cannot determine her name’s meaning.
In 2024, 7 babies were recorded with the name Kae, ranking #12,161 among girls.
