Kasandra is a spelling variant of Cassandra used in several European and English-speaking communities. Cassandra comes from Greek Kassandra, whose etymology is uncertain. In Greek mythology, Cassandra was a Trojan princess granted prophecy by Apollo but cursed so that her truthful warnings would never be believed. Her story became an enduring symbol of ignored warnings. Canadian short-track speed skater Kasandra Bradette is a notable bearer; exact-spelling examples are less common than Cassandra.
