Meaning and history
Katee is a modern English spelling variant of Katie, traditionally a diminutive of Katherine. Katherine comes from Greek Aikaterine, whose original etymology remains uncertain; its spelling was later influenced by Greek katharos, “pure,” producing the familiar traditional interpretation. The altered ending in Katee is stylistic and does not change the name family. A notable bearer is American actor Katee Sackhoff, known for portraying Kara “Starbuck” Thrace in the television series Battlestar Galactica.
In 2015, 6 babies were recorded with the name Katee, ranking #14,482 among girls.
