Meaning and history
Kaylani is a modern English variant of the Hawaiian name Kailani, formed from kai, meaning "sea," and lani, meaning "sky," "heaven" or "chief." The spelling belongs to a recent family of related forms that also includes Kailany and Kehlani, and it has no long-established historical namesake.
Kaylani rose from #240 to #185 for girls between 2024 and 2025. That year also produced its highest recorded birth count, at 1,675.
