Meaning and history
Kazimiera is the Polish feminine form of Kazimierz. The Slavic name combines kaziti, “to destroy,” with mir, “peace” or “world,” traditionally yielding the striking sense “destroyer of peace.” Saint Casimir, a fifteenth-century Polish-Lithuanian prince, gave the name family religious importance. Kazimiera is strongly associated with Polish history and language. Notable bearers include Polish poet Kazimiera Iłłakowiczówna and Polish politician Kazimiera Szczuka.
