Kenelm

Kenelm is an Old English masculine name combining cyne, “royal,” with helm, “helmet” or “protection,” giving the traditional meaning “royal protector.” Saint Kenelm was a legendary young Mercian prince and martyr whose medieval cult centred on Winchcombe. The story’s historical details are uncertain, but it preserved the name. Notable bearers include English natural philosopher and courtier Kenelm Digby and British poet and writer Kenelm Henry Digby.
